Here are some videos;
Long Haul was shot live at Rollie's Rednecks and Longnecks a bar near my home in Benton County Minnesota. it is a great story song written by my friend Effron White from Fayatteville AR. this video captures a good performance of the song about a aging truck driver looking back at his life on the road. featured here on slide guitar is the amazing Kurt "lightning" Rodman. it was a Tuesday night last winter and the only table in the place was talking during our performance. they did not get the memo that this is one of the most brillient story songs ever and you should listen because it will bring a tear to your eyes.
the Broken Ground video was filmed and edited to a demo version of my song about the decline and pride I feel for my home town area by a film maker named John Overby whom I grew up with in Madison MN. John's work really made the song shine. the towns featured here are Marrietta, Nassau and Madison MN located near the South Dakota border in Lac Qui Parle County in Minnesota. the studio version of this song became the title track of my latest record and features the great Canadian songwriter Cara Luft (formally of the Wailin' Jennys) singing harmony and some sweet pedal steel by John Ely (Leon Redbone, Asleep at the Wheel) on this version it is just little old me singing and playing harmonica. also featured in this video is the 151 Bravo Battery Field Artillery National Gaurd unit on the day before they were deployed along with my brother David to Iraq. our prayers were answered when everyone of those guys made it home safe. the last verse of the song was written for Dave and also based on my own military experience around about 1974.
